The Infotel team traveled from far and wide to converge in Scotland with our fellow IDUG members from Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Everyone is back home safe and sound, and we’re happy to report the first European IDUG tech conference since 2019 was a huge success. It was a welcome change to once again be face-to-face with our friends and colleagues in the Db2 community after two years of isolation during the pandemic.

We love attending IDUG EMEA because it is a global event, and meeting with and learning from Db2 professionals from around the world is a unique privilege. It is also near a majority of our customers and a great opportunity to visit with them. Though the mainframe community reaches the far corners of the earth, we are a small and tight-knit bunch, and one of the strengths of IDUG is its emphasis on community. It’s always a pleasure getting back together with the customers and colleagues we’ve come to know through the years (sometimes decades) of attending industry conferences, and IDUG does a great job of creating an atmosphere that encourages these lifelong connections.

With more than 100 technical sessions, workshops, presentations, and keynote addresses, IDUG EMEA delivered when it came to educational content, and we were proud to have a large presence at such an important resource for Db2 professionals. An educated industry is key to ensuring the mainframe IP hand-down we’ll need over the next 10 years and maintaining the world’s mainframe investments.

Several presentations and educational sessions at IDUG were focused on the future, and as digital transformation continues to rapidly accelerate enterprise data stores across every industry, ensuring your organization has a sustainable strategy for enterprise data management going forward should be a top priority.

On Monday, Infotel’s sponsored speaking session with Craig S. Mullins expanded on these themes

(Craig S. Mullins giving his presentation on Db2 for z/OS at IDUG EMEA 2022)

Craig is one of the foremost Db2 experts in the world, as much of an educator as he is a technician. We were happy to see a great turnout for his presentation where he highlighted the importance of automation when it comes to managing Db2 for z/OS— a necessity for the future z/OS professionals faced with increased workloads and cybersecurity threats and decreased time and resources to manage these challenges. After his talk, the Infotel team shared our iDBA-Online solution for automating Db2 for z/OS management tasks through the power of AI.

iDBA-Online is designed to automate Db2 tasks and free up time for DBAs to focus on more strategic initiatives. Our iDBA-Online solution:

  • Drives down Db2 administration costs
  • Improves performance through automation
